Here's how Pearl M, Natasha Thahane and Emtee reacted to THOSE #MMA16 moments

TshisaLIVE spoke to three top celebs to get their honest opinion of the best and worst moments of the 16th annual Metro FM Music Awards.

The awards were held at the Durban ICC in KZN on Saturday and attracted the biggest names in the entertainment industry.

Pearl Modiadie was the co-host of the show, Emtee was a performer and Natasha was there to show her support for those nominated.

All three spoke to TshisaLIVE about their experience at this year's event and what they thought of the moments that captured the nation's attention.

Riky Ricks acceptance speech

Rapper Riky Rick used his acceptance speech at the Metro FM Music Awards to lambaste the music industry and the awards. His passionate speech about the industry not taking young talent seriously and radio being filled with "trash" led to him trending on social media.

"I agree with him one hundred percent. I feel like all young talent is fighting the battle he was talking about and it's time that the industry stops playing with the people and take our work seriously" - Natasha.

"We all have our own personal opinions about the industry. I can't speak for him and his opinion but in my view the industry is open now and brighter than ever. There are issues here and there but it is open." - Emtee

The mayor who became a meme

eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede took to the stage to co-present the Best Produced Album award and soon found herself an internet sensation when she shielded her eyes on live TV to read the teleprompter.

Kelly wins an award

It was a long time coming but Kelly Khumalo was all smiles when she walked away with the Best Female Album award. She had spoken before of how much winning the award would mean to her.

"I support her music and so I was glad. On her latest album is the one, I listen to it and it transports me to another world, so congratulations to her because she really deserves it"- Natasha

Amanda Black shows her dominance

It's been a great year for Amanda Black. The singer's album Amazulu went platinum within three months of its release and she won two awards at the ceremony on Saturday. Whenever she was on stage, she was greeted with cheers and shouts of excitement.

"I came here to see Amanda perform and win awards. I was really happy with her wins." - Emtee

Nasty C wins it all

The night belonged to Nasty C, who walked away with four awards, including the prestigious Song of the Year award.

"Nasty C is such a talent and he really has really proven himself. He's a newcomer and his star is shining really bright at the moment" - Pearl M
