Was Kelly Khumalo snubbed at Meyiwa announcement?

The ongoing feud between the father of slain Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa and singer Kelly Khumalo has again reared its head with both claiming they are not playing ball regarding the life policy that is to be paid out. The Premier Soccer League on Wednesday announced details of a R4 million life insurance policy payout. PSL and Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza explained that half of the policy would go to Orlando Pirates – because the club had paid for the policy - and half would go to Meyiwa’s children.Senzo’s father Sam Meyiwa and the soccer star’s estranged wife‚ Mandisa Mkhize‚ were both at the press conference. They thanked the PSL for its support.“It’s still difficult dealing with the loss of Senzo especially because we hardly saw him. It’s still painful. I’d like to also thank the chairman for his handling of this insurance pay-out matter. We’re pleased with the process‚” Sam told the press conference.Noticeably absent was Kelly Khumalo‚ who has a child with Senzo. Sources close to Khumalo have told TMG Entertainment that she knew nothing of the event nor the details surrounding the policy. Speaking through a friend‚ the singer said “I don’t see how any of this has to do with me.”At the same time‚ a family spokesperson for the Meyiwa family told Sowetan (http://www.sowetanlive.co.za) that Kelly has not been co-operating. “We have made all the efforts to make sure Kelly’s child is involved as a beneficiary. She’s not been fully co-operative at the moment but we’ve done everything legally possible. We’ve asked the courts to assist too‚” said spokesperson Siyabonga Meyiwa. It’s the first time there seems to be an olive branch extended to Khumalo. Sam Meyiwa has publically lambasted her in the press before‚ calling her a “curse to his son” and insisting that any money should not go to her‚ but rather to the “right hands”.“We foresee that maybe once the funds are available‚ we will meet the family (Khumalos)‚ and the child in particular‚ because she is part of the (Meyiwa) family‚” the spokesperson went on to add.Former South African Football Association CEO Raymond Hack was named administrator of the policy. He explained that the money will be paid over to a guardian fund‚ which will hold the money on behalf of the children. “When I say children I mean children that we are aware of and any child that is able to prove that he/she is offspring to Senzo‚” said Hack. He said there were three children that would benefit from the policy at this stage.- TMG Digital/TMG Entertainment..
