'Left 4 Dead' meets 'Payday' in official collaboration
Frantic, tense, zombie-killing series Left 4 Dead is in the sights of Payday: The Heist developer Overkill Software, which is teasing a bona fide collaboration between itself and Left 4 Dead's Valve.
PlayStation 3 download Payday: The Heist is no stranger to crossovers, already frequently compared to both Left 4 Dead, for its four-player, us-against-the-world setup, and 1990s bank robbery flicks Heat and Point Break.
While both Payday: The Heist and the Left 4 Dead games have been available on PC (and the Left 4 Deads on Mac as well), console owners have had their choices limited: Xbox 360 gamers can pick from the Left 4 Dead titles, while PlayStation 3 players have Payday as an equivalent.
Payday creators Overkill announced the crossover after inserting clues into the game's latest update, with hints including a poster for a zombie movie and health packs from Left 4 Dead.
The timing's good for an undead bank job mash-up, with Arma II's Day Z generating huge buzz, Grand Theft Auto V on the horizon, and the stealthy stealing of Monaco expected to appear before 2012 is out.
