Procol Harum cancels South African tour

Times LIVE | 30 May, 2012 10:16
British rock band Procol Harum.

British band Procol Harum have cancelled the remainder of their South African tour due to an injury sustained by the lead singer.

Big Concerts announced Wednesday that the scheduled appearance of the band on the British Invasion Tour of South Africa has been cancelled.

The lead singer and founding member of Procol Harum, Gary Brooker, severely injured himself after a fall in Cape Town Tuesday night. Brooker is in a serious but stable condition.

Big Concerts’ CEO Attie van Wyk said: “Our thoughts are with Gary and the band during this difficult time.  We are confident that he is receiving the very best medical attention and we wish him a speedy recovery”.

The British Invasion tour of South Africa will continue, but without Procol Harum. The tour features The Moody Blues, with special guests 10cc.
