'Soul Buddyz' back on children's TV
The kids' favourite drama show Soul Buddyz is back on SABC1. It resurfaced on Monday last week after a two-year break, but it's still concerned with the lives, struggles and joys of 8 to 14-year-olds.
The programme deals with real-life issues like Aids, relationships, sexuality, bullying, abuse and corporal punishment. The show encourages children to understand their rights and be responsible.
This latest series is part of the Phuza Wize campaign (a national campaign to change the way South Africans think and drink). Viewers will see a group of kids demonstrating the impact of alcohol on children and how they can bring about change with the assistance of parents, teachers and the community.
Soul Buddyz series manager Thandiwe Nxumalo-Kunutu says the drama will also encourage learners to get involved in making their schools alcohol-free zones.
"We are trying to get children in schools to draw up an alcohol-free policy and maintain this status on an ongoing basis," she says.
Watch Soul Buddyz on SABC1 every Monday at 7pm
