Marlan Padayachee, by e-mail: Well done to The Times for excellent coverage of the Jackie Selebi corruption case.

The high moral ground of South Africa's freedom struggle has been sullied by the culture of corruption, fraud and greed, graft and nepotism.

The criminal justice system and the media are the bulwarks that could stop this.

Unless civilians, including NGOs and Transparency International, turn the heat on financial, government and political corruption, and the public-private sector's role in tender fraud and the politically connected allocation of contracts, a hard earned democracy will be threatened.

The courts have put this cancer into its perspective. We need good citizens to come forward as whistleblowers to end the rot.
