Tshiamo Monareng: A lot of decent soccer players end up on their couches at home watching TV wondering what it could have been like to be a player.

National teams complain about youth development, while the solution is right under their noses.

If players were informed how to further their talent, then we would have a much stronger soccer league and a national team.

Cricket, hockey and rugby have provincial tournaments, a good platform for the youngsters to carry on playing sports for a living.

Soccer doesn't have this. The provincial tournaments stop at U13. Rugby has the Craven week and this helps many youngsters to get offers from unions.

If the same could be done for soccer, everything would be better.

If players were told when and where trials were being held, things would also improve.
