First of all, both these articles, ‘Blacks need white people and ‘Black people need black people’, offended me.

In the first instance the writer seemed to be being sarcastic about how "white people" somehow show "black people" how wrong they act.

In the second instance it seems that the writer can not see past his own indignation about the suggestion that somehow "black people" and all customs related to "them" are below that of "white people".

I interpret both these articles as having a core issue - "white people" are not some entity that functions as a group, sharing opinions and customs, all acting as one. "Black people" also DO NOT function as a single-brained entity.

This generalisation of "all non whites in Africa are black" and somehow are all the same is unacceptable in a nation where tolerance, diversity and acceptance as people for people and NOT for their skin tone is unacceptable. I stand by the same for the generalisation of "whites".

Yes, Africa is struggling with issues of corruption, with politicians getting away with much more than would be allowed in either Great Britain or the US.

But I agree with the second writer that both the above mentioned countries have had their own problems - and MUCH MORE TIME to fix them. We are called a developing country and continent for a reason.

Corruption, rape, kidnapping, loss of culture, sexually inappropriate behaviour etc., are not issues specific to any group of individuals.

We must start seeing people as the flawed human beings they are, not as a "black" or a "white". If you have a problem with President Zuma, have a problem with him. Not somehow the whole Zulu, or even whole black, race.

The same is applicable to any white, Chinese, Indian, coloured, pink, orange or blue person out there!

Judge people on their own merit, of you must judge. We are a changed and developing south Africa - move past the race card.
