The Institute of Accountability is not engaging in the conversation to help transform the composition of the judiciary. It is simply targeting the messenger ("Move to oust Mogoeng", yesterday).

Its call for the chief justice to be impeached shows there is still an influential and sizeable number of jurists who are hellbent on delaying the transformation of the judiciary and would rather have the status quo.

I hope the JSC sees the complaint as "a stab at the progress made in transforming the judiciary". - Kiekie Mboweni, Nkowankowa

WHOEVER entertains the complaint will be compelled to answer the question: Is it a crime to call for the transformation of the judiciary? Put differently, is Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng expected to be neutral on the fundamental question of the transformation?

No serious-minded democrat would accede to this spurious complaint.

Transformation requires activist judges who will address challenges of transformation without fear, prejudice or favour. Mogoeng should be commended for leading by force of example.

The likes of Advocate Paul Hoffman, the institute's director, should be consigned to the museum of apartheid. - Mzukisi Gaba, Cape Town
