One of the issues that is currently ongoing within America is that some Americans think it is of dire importance that they keep transgender people out of their public rest rooms.

Heck! it even came up in an attack ad Ted Cruz launched against Donald Trump, because the Republican, to his credit, said he didn’t care what toilet people used.

I for one am not terribly worried about a trans man sneaking into the men’s bathroom to stare at my penis.

I’m worried about religious conservative Republicans doing that.

Why? Because first of all, when it comes to instances of sexual harassment in bathrooms Republicans have trans individuals beat three nil.

Those three are:

Former Mississippi Congressman  John Hinson, Senator from Idaho Larry Craig (who famously solicited a cop), and Florida state representative Bob Allen.

And second, because when it comes to people checking out my junk…

Well think about this: If a trans man enters the bathroom, goes into a cubicle and does their business, how is anyone supposed to know? The same goes for trans women using cubicles into women’s rest rooms.

Unless someone checks.

And I don’t know about you – but when I’m in a public restroom my attention is focused on my business, not someone else’s.

These people who’re so terribly terrified of trans individuals in their bathrooms, they sound an awful lot like they spend their time in the toilet checking out everyone else’s genitals.

I think that is just creepy, and I’m not entirely sure I feel comfortable sharing a bathroom with them.

There are just some things you don’t want to deal with when standing at a urinal, and somebody staring and taking notes is exactly one of them.

It’s rude.

Which might explain why nobody who knows Cruz really likes him. I mean imagine, you're elected to America's government, eventually you are going to want to go to the rest rooms, and eventually you're going to get there and see this:

JOSHUA ROBERTS

Ted Cruz

Toilets aren’t complicated things. They’re where we do the less fun bodily functions. We really don’t need a Republican toilet Gestapo to complicate things.

So here is my take on the whole thing - rather than getting het up over which bathroom trans people use, we should ban Ted Cruz from using any of them.
