The story of Sinoxolo Sem, told by Professor Jonathan Jansen, is remarkable, and I am sure he will succeed.
Surely the education departments can do something when they know the top students from disadvantaged schools in each province are studying further?
How could a student of this calibre not have a place to study further?
These clever students are the future and we can't allow such brain power to be neglected.
It would also encourage other children from disadvantaged areas to achieve good results.
These students could then be mentors for the next generation. Educate one person in a family and he/she can uplift the entire family.
I worked in the recruitment industry for 15 years. From my experience, people who are prepared to make the effort to study and obtain exceptional results must be encouraged as there are few of them.
There should be a system whereby these clever children can make a better life for themselves.
