"Renewed hope in Richtersveld" (August 4) refers. We must stop living in fantasy and face the sad facts.

Yes, the turnaround strategies will work so long as the R50-million new investment will last. The big question is why the previously productive farms are lying barren?

The creation of many directorships, management positions and companies does not mean productivity but, in many cases, more overhead expenses if the people put into these positions are ill-qualified to hold such posts.

Even successful enterprises need effort and work; nothing comes from nothing.

As taxpayers we cannot accept that our money is squandered on projects because of community infighting and a case where too many cooks spoil the broth.
