I do not believe the government should have promised Umkhonto weSizwe veterans jobs ("MK vets storm mayor's office", August 27).

The political pressure imposed on the eThekwini municipality to hire MK vets in the metro police has resulted in management and service delivery problems.

These individuals did not meet the basic requirements but the ratepayers inherited these officers due to political interference.
