MAC announces Marilyn Monroe cosmetics line
MAC Cosmetics have announced the worldwide launch of a beauty line inspired by 1950s film star Marilyn Monroe to be released this October.
WWD reports that the colour cosmetics line will comprise eye shadows, lipsticks, nail lacquers and eyeliners – with prices ranging from $15 to $27.
The announcement comes at a time when Monroe fever is in the air; Michelle Williams has been nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of the actress in biopic My Week With Marilyn, and there has been a revived interest in her trademark rouged lips and famous beauty spot.
Meanwhile, Estée Lauder has teamed up with 1960s-set show Mad Men for another vintage-inspired beauty line announced this week.
The first of two limited edition Mad Men-themed ranges will debut March 18 on www.esteelauder.com/madmen and www.bloomingdales.com.
