According to Jack Bloom, the DA's spokesman on health, seventeen doctors have resigned from Leratong Hospital in the West Rand this year.

This was revealed by a reply a reply from Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu.

There are now 29 vacancies for doctors and 52 for nurses in the hospital.

"The root of this problem is bad management. Doctors are leaving because they are poorly managed and staff are not properly disciplined after complaints," Bloom said, "Strong action is needed to turn this hospital around so that it provides a proper service."

TimesLIVE is still awaiting comment from the health MEC's office.
