A nurse who allegedly gave primary school pupils contraceptive injections in Port Elizabeth will be disciplined, the Eastern Cape health department said on Wednesday.

"She will face disciplinary hearing," spokesman Siyanda Manana said.

The nurse allegedly gave pupils at Mzomncane Primary School contraceptive injections without the consent of their parents. Some pupils were said to be as young as 10 and not even sexually active.

The children were given a talk about menstruation before they were injected.
