Women, Children, and People with Disabilities Minister Lulu Xingwana has launched the start of the 16 days of no violence against women and children campaign.

Xingwane also launched the green door campaign to mark the 12th anniversary of the 16 day campaign.

"This campaign will also focus on other problems facing women and children, including killings related to witchcraft," she said.

In line with the green door campaign, a memorial park would be built on Saturday in honour of 10-year-old Masego Kgomo.

After being raped and killed, some of her body parts were removed for muti.

Xingwane said the department had submitted motivations encouraging the heaviest sentence for Kgomo's killer.

The 16 days campaign ends on December 10.
