Three KwaZulu-Natal police officers were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a man with broom and mop handles, the Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) said.

One of the officers apparently had a fight with the man in July, while he was off duty, said ICD spokesman Moses Dlamini.

In November, he and the other two policemen went to the man's home where they allegedly hit him.

The assault was filmed on a nearby closed-circuit television camera.

The face of one of the policemen was covered. The other two were in police uniform.

They would appear in the Chatsworth Magistrate's Court on Thursday, said Dlamini.
