The police station in Zithobeni, which is just outside Bronkhorstspruit, has been torched by residents according to a report.

EWN reports that the residents burnt the station, along with three trucks and a municipal office.

The residents were protesting poor service delivery in Zithobeni and nearby Rethabile, and were supposed to meet Tshwane Mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa on Thursday to hand over a memorandum of grievances.

According to the report the protest turned violent when Ramokgopa failed to show up.

The residents claim they are being overcharged for services and that they have been without water or electricity for three weeks.
