Johannesburg bus driver shot on Ontdekkers Road

A bus driver is in a serious condition after he was shot on Ontdekkers Road in Newlands, west of Johannesburg on Wednesday morning.

According to ER24, paramedics were called to the scene shortly before 06:00am, where they found the bus on the side of the road near the Mollie intersection.

They found the driver of the bus, believed to be in his fifties, with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Another person, believed to be a passenger on the bus, was found with a graze wound on his abdomen. 

The driver of the bus explained that an unknown number of suspects entered the bus as he stopped near the Mollie Road bus stop and opened fire into the bus. The bus had several passengers on board at the time.

The injured men were transported by to nearby hospitals for treatment.
