A Kempton Park father of two has been arrested after he reacted to an angry motorist who slapped him in the face during an incident of road rage on Wednesday morning.

The dad, who is yet to appear in court and cannot be named until then was driving his two daughters to school in the quiet suburb of Bonaero Park in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni when the shooting occurred.

According to the Kempton Express, the 45-year-old father of two who was driving a white VW Passat skipped a stop sign and randomly stopped in the middle of the road. Boksburg resident Louis Jansen van Rensburg then tried to overtake the dad in his Isuzu bakkie but the dad carried on driving with his two daughters in tow.

The weekly newspaper further reports that both cars stopped with van Rensburg getting out of the car and walking over to the dad. Once there, he viciously slapped the dad until a gun shot was heard.

“That’s when I realised something wrong was happening. Soon after the slapping, I heard a gunshot. When I turned to look, the victim had fallen to the ground," a witness told the newspaper.

Van Rensburg died of a single gun shot wound to the face.

The dad was arrested and will face a charge of murder, Kempton Park police said.
