A story that went viral yesterday on social media of a dog tied up with wire on the back of a bakkie has led to some insight as to the origins of these abused animals.

The owner, a family man from Fourways, spoke to the North Eastern Tribune saying, "I gave the dogs away because they were fighting with my other dogs. I have other animals and they are in good condition. I do not know where [the other two] are now."

He had apparently given the dog to the driver of the white Toyota bakkie, on May 5. The driver of the bakkie is allegedly not the owner, but is a lessee who transports animals and was allegedly on route to deliver the dogs to a client in Hillbrow.

The NSPCA together with IRS Forensic Investigations joined the investigations, the search is still underway to trace the dogs.
