Walter Sisulu University students demand right to squat

Hundreds of Walter Sisulu University students embarked on a protest at the Buffalo City Campus around midday in an attempt to get management to allow them to squat with others in residences. This after students could not get funding for accommodation from the National Students Financial Aid Scheme.The Daily Dispatch understands that lectures were disrupted and close to 7‚000 students on campus have been affected.Student leadership also said management should stop demanding registration fees for a second semester from engineering students.A memo containing their grievances was handed over to management. - Daily Dispatch, RDM News Wire..
