Big drop in fuel‚ gas and paraffin from next Wednesday

Motorist will be glad to know that the price of petrol will drop by 51c a litre and diesel by 74c to 76c a litre from next week Wednesday. There will also be relief for households. The department of energy said on Friday that the cost of gas and paraffin would also come down. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will decrease by 56c per kilogramme and paraffin by 70c per litre (wholesale) and 93c per litre (single maximum national retail price – SMNRP).Diesel 0.05% sulphur will be cut by 75.82c and diesel 0.005% by 73.82c.The energy department said the decrease in the prices of all the petroleum products was largely influenced by the drop in the crude oil prices. Brent crude is below $55 a barrel for the first time in three months amid a global glut. “The weakening rand reduced the over recovery on the basic fuel price slightly. The rand fell considerably during the period under review‚ as commodity prices continued to tumble‚” it said...
