Former Jozi FM DJ Donald Sebolai has called the mother of his slain girlfriend‚ her best friend‚ and a police officer liars. Sebolai is testifying in his defence on Friday at the Johannesburg High Court‚ sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.Sebolai‚ 38‚ also known as “DJ Donald Duck”‚ is on trial for allegedly murdering his girlfriend Flavia Rachel “Dolly” Tshabalala‚ 32‚ at his Soweto flat on June 29 last year.Sebolai‚ who has pleaded not guilty‚ testified on Tuesday that Tshabalala had attacked him after the couple fought‚ and that she was stabbed as he tried to defend himself.Tshabalala's mother‚ Elizabeth Marawa‚ her best friend‚ Nonhlanhla Mkhize and policeman Warrant Officer Pheeha Esrom Mabitsi all testified that they had heard the word “kill” used in disputes involving Tshabalala and Sebolai.Marawa testified earlier that she heard her daughter say‚ “If you want to kill me‚ you can kill me‚” when arguing with Sebolai outside her home last year.Mabitsi testified that Tshabalala told him that Sebolai wanted to beat her up and kill her when she asked police for help to resolve a dispute between herself and Sebolai. And Mkhize testified that on June 29‚ last year Sebolai called her saying that he had killed Tshabalala. But Sebolai said the witnesses were lying.“I don't believe them at all. It's possible that these people are lying‚” Sebolai told the court while under cross-examination by prosecutor Elize Le Roux.Le Roux also asked Sebolai if he had a temper problem to which he replied‚ “no”.She then remarked that she found it interesting that whenever Sebolai testified that he was angry‚ Tshabalala ended up injured referring to the testimony of witness Palesa Matladi Seseli.Seseli testified that she had accompanied Tshabalala to the Jabulani Police Station twice to lay complaints of assault against Sebolai.Le Roux asked Judge Cassim Moosa to postpone the proceedings to Monday so that she can deal with Sebolai’s evidence on Tshabalala’s death in one session.Defence advocate Thabang Mathopo did not oppose Le Roux's application‚ but asked the court to remember that a lengthy trial would place Sebolai under the burden of a growing legal bill. The trial continues on Monday. -TMG Courts and Law..
