Wreaths to be laid for SAPS’ ‘fallen heroes’

Sunday will see Police Commissioner General Riah Phiyega and Police Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko host a National Commemoration Day event in Pretoria to remember the “fallen heroes” of the South African Police Service. A media statement on Monday said they will be joined by families and relatives of the deceased “in memory of police officers who died in the line of duty in the last 12 months”.Business Day reported last month that at least 56 police officers have been murdered across SA in 2015.Wreaths will be laid at the SAPS Memorial at the Union Buildings in Pretoria “in honour of those who died serving and protecting the people of South Africa”‚ the statement said...
