Tito Mboweni to give first lecture as Wits professor

The country’s first black Reserve Bank governor will deliver his maiden lecture at the University of the Witwatersrand next Tuesday. Tito Mboweni joined Wits’ School of Economic and Business Sciences as an honorary professor in August‚ a university statement on Tuesday said.Mboweni‚ who was at the helm of the Reserve Bank from 1999 to 2009‚ obtained his first degree – a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from the National University of Lesotho - in 1985 while in exile.During his tenure at the bank‚ he was appointed as an honorary Professor of Economics at the University of South Africa; awarded the degree of Doctor of Economics‚ honoris causa by the then-University of Natal; elected chancellor of the University of the North-West; and appointed Professor Extraordinary in Economics by the University of Stellenbosch...
