Pandemonium erupted on Japhta Masemola Road in Khayelitsha this week when two cash-in-transit vans collided into each other, according to a report on Friday.

The crash, according to Daily Sun, happened on Wednesday morning at about 11am near Nolungile Station in site C.

Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut told the newspaper that  a cash-in-transit vehicle overturned in Khayelitsha but no one was injured.

According to eyewitness accounts, the guards from Coin Security had just collected cash at the station when another security company allegedly drove into their van.

It is not clear in the report whether the crash resulted in money being scattered around the accident scene but cops cordoned off the scene and waved pedestrians and motorists away.

Fire-fighters arrived and doused the burning van while shocked guards looked on.

An eyewitnees told the newspaper that: “First I heard screeching tyres and then a loud bang. I went to see what was going on but quickly went back into my shack after I saw guards with guns crawling out of the burning van,” said the witness.
