An injured man was hit by two tow trucks after he climbed out of his wrecked car following a collision with a tree, paramedics said.

The car had veered off the road and hit a tree in Umhlanga Rocks Drive near Sunningdale on Saturday morning.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said reports indicted the driver climbed out of the wreckage, and was then hit by two tow trucks.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the man pinned between his vehicle and one of the towing vehicles with critical injuries. Medics found that two people were injured, one critically and the other sustained serious injuries,” Botha said.

The injured were transported to hospital.
