Three Good Samaritans used their wheel jacks to help an off-duty paramedic rescue a man pinned underneath a car in the Western Cape on Saturday night.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the driver was ejected from his vehicle and pinned under it on the R404 in Heralds Bay.
An off-duty ER24 paramedic was driving along the road when he noticed the car sitting in the middle of the road.
“When the paramedic approached the vehicle, he noticed a pair of feet protruding from beneath the vehicle. The paramedics immediately assessed the patient and found that he had sustained severe injuries to his head and chest and was in a critical condition," Meiring said.
“Three members of public can forward to help the paramedic remove the vehicle off the patient, using wheel jacks for nearby vehicles. Once freed, paramedics treated the patient and transported him to a provincial hospital for urgent treatment."
The cause of the crash was being investigated.
