At least 19 dead in road accident near Westonaria

At least 19 people have been killed in a collision between a truck and a taxi on the R28 near Westonaria‚ ER24 emergency medical service reported. Four people were critically injured in the accident‚ which occurred about 6km from the mining town‚ west of Johannesburg‚ it said.“ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene and found the area in chaos. Patients were lying all over the scene.“It is understood that the taxi lost control and the truck collided with it.“The taxi apparently rolled multiple times and burst into flames. Patients were ejected. Patients sustained multiple injuries including burn wounds‚” ER24 said.Three people ‚ one of them a young child‚ who were critically injured were airlifted to hospital for further medical care‚ it said. “One critically was transported by ambulance and the truck driver who sustained minor injuries was transported to hospital as well.”..
