Home affairs official arrested for corruption

A senior Home Affairs official was granted bail on Friday after her appearance in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court on charges of corruption. The official was arrested by the Hawks on Thursday when a police informant offered her a R40,000 bribe to facilitate the processing of permits‚ the department of home affairs said in a statement on Friday. The Hawks‚ working with the department’s counter-corruption unit had been investigating the official for some time.The department has started an internal disciplinary processes.She will appear at the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court on February 4...
