Two people have arrested for the murder of a police officer whose body was found on the Mabopane highway in Pretoria at the weekend, police said.
Captain Kenneth Poortman, 47, was believed to have been hijacked while in his private car on Saturday. He had stab wounds and his firearm was missing.
"Thorough police work by Pretoria Central Crime Intelligence, the Tactical Response Team and the National Intervention Unit led to the arrest of two suspects in Winterveld," the SA Police Service said in a statement on its Facebook page.
Poortman's car and gun were recovered. More arrests were possible, police said.
It was not immediately clear when the two men would appear in court.
