Woman dies after being rescued from sea at Camps Bay

A 54-year-old woman from Manenberg died on Sunday afternoon after having had to be rescued from the sea at Maidens Cove‚ Camps Bay‚ on the Cape Peninsula. It appeared from eye-witness reports that the woman had fallen or had been swept off rocks into the water and swept out to sea by rip currents‚ the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said.It said the woman was rescued about 300 metres offshore by City of Cape Town lifeguards and was successfully resuscitated by paramedics after being brought back to shore on a rubber dingy. However‚ she had died from her injuries on arrival at a local hospital..
