Armed men robbed the Spur restaurant in Blackheath, Johannesburg, in the early hours of the morning, leading to a shoot-out with private security guards.
News24 understands that three men broken into the Wild Falcon Spur, on the corner of Beyers Naude Drive and Castle Hill Drive, around 03:30, when nobody was in the restaurant.
Security company Beagle Watch customer relations manager Anne Wood said she could not reveal the name of their client, but confirmed that their guards responded to a break-in on Thursday morning, which led to a shoot-out with the burglars.
The suspects fled in a silver-grey Toyota Spacio. They shot at security guards, who returned fire. The three crashed into a pavement on Beyers Naude Drive and ran away. Four television sets were recovered.
No one was injured. Pictures of the crashed getaway vehicle were distributed on social networking site Twitter.
