Gang burns vehicle, douses guards in petrol in failed cash in transit heist

A group of six armed men robbed Fidelity security officers at gun point, Wednesday on the N18 Road between Kraaipan mine and Setlagole village, North West Province.

The robbers pounced on the officers who stopped to change a punctured tyre, according to an Intelligence Bureau SA report.

The robbers took the guards to a nearby bush, poured petrol on them and said they'd burn if the security officers did not cooperate.

Four of the suspects then tried to open the safe containing money. When they failed, they set the truck alight.
