Six people‚ among them three children‚ were killed and two others injured on Saturday night when a SUV rolled off the R36 near Mooketsi in Limpopo‚ paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics‚ along with provincial services‚ arrived on scene to find the SUV lying upright against a large tree.

“The vehicle had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision‚ leaving a trail of debris from the road to the tree.

“On inspection‚ paramedics discovered numerous bodies lying around the scene that had apparently been ejected from the vehicle.

“On assessment‚ paramedics found five lifeless bodies lying near the vehicle. Three children‚ two girls and a boy believed to be aged between 4 and ten‚ and two adults were found showing now signs of life.

“Unfortunately‚ all five patients had already succumbed to their multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead on scene‚” ER24 emergency medical service said.

Three other adults were injured in the accident‚ one of them a woman who was in a critical condition.

“Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured patient with advanced life support interventions. Once treated‚ the critically injured patient was transported by ER24 while the two remaining patients were transported by provincial services. All the patients were transported to Kgapane Hospital for further treatment.

“On arrival at hospital‚ the critically injured patient unfortunately succumbed to her injuries‚” ER24 added.
