Bunking kids herded in blitz

About 100 Durban pupils were "herded" back to school on Wednesday in a bunking blitz. The KwaZulu-Natal education department's senior circuit manager has approved a request to form a task team to round up truant pupils in Phoenix‚ north of Durban‚ daily.Assisted by CPCA security‚ a school's governing body chairperson and a parent‚ KZN VIP members on Wednesday rounded up pupils loitering outside Phoenix Secondary School and throughout the area at about 9am."Today I decided to take it up on myself to initiate a project to herd pupils to their classes. Parents‚ this is not my job. You should ensure that your children that they go to and stay at school for the full duration of their study period‚" head of KZN VIP Glen Naidoo said.He said the primary function of the task team was to ensure that pupils did not loiter outside schools.Naidoo said truancy was a common problem in the area leading to pupils engaging in illegal activities‚ indulging in drugs and alcohol and forming violent gangs.He called on parents‚ community members and other security companies to join the task team.The principal didn't respond to queries...
