Panayiotou's father was suspicious of him‚ police officer tells court

When Jayde Panayiotou went missing‚ her father-in-law allegedly mentioned that he sincerely hoped Christopher Panayiotou had nothing to do with her disappearance. This according to the affidavit of investigating officer‚ Lieutenant Kanna Swanepoel. Prosecutor Marius Stander read Swanepoel's affidavit into the record on Thursday afternoon. According to Swanepoel‚ Panayiotou's father Costa also asked a policeman and family friend‚ Leon Eksteen‚ to find out if Panayiotou was having an affair with Chanelle Coutts.Stander was responding to defence Advocate Terry Price's arguments in Panayiotou's third attempt at bail in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court.Panayiotou is accused of orchestrating the murder of his wife‚ school teacher Jayde‚ in April last year.Jayde was abducted outside her Kabega Park townhouse in Port Elizabeth on the morning of 21 April‚ 2015.
