Former Springbok cyclist Jan Hettema was killed on Wednesday morning during a robbery at his smallholding in Tweedrag‚ Pretoria‚ police said.“Two suspects broke into the Hettema's home at 8 o'clock this morning‚ overpowered and shot Jan. They then tied up his wife and helper‚” Captain Merissa van der Merwe said.The suspects got away with a laptop‚ jewellery‚ cash and a firearm‚ said Van der Merwe.“Mrs Hettman was unharmed but is deeply traumatised by the incident‚” Van der Merwe said.She added that police had no leads yet‚ but that the investigation was ongoing.Hettema‚ 83‚ competed in cycling at the 1956 Olympics were he managed fourth place.He also won the South African Rally Championship five times...
