Two pedestrians critical after hit-and-run accidents

Two pedestrians‚ one a 10-year-old boy‚ are in hospital in a critical condition after hit-and-run accidents. ER24 said that a man was critically injured on Saturday evening when he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle on Edenvale Road in Henley Dam‚ Pietermaritzburg‚ in Kwazulu-Natal.“Upon arrival‚ paramedics found the man lying in the middle of the busy road surrounded by members of the community. On assessment‚ paramedics found that the man had sustained numerous injuries to his head and chest‚ leaving him in a critical condition.“Paramedics began their treatment of the patient and immediately provided him with advanced life support interventions‚ in an effort to stabilise his vital signs.“Once treated‚ the patient was transported to Edenvale Hospital for further care‚” the emergency medical service said.It added that the vehicle that had struck him was not at the scene.Earlier on Saturday‚ a boy‚ believed to be 10 years old‚ was hit by a light motor vehicle at the corners of Olivenhout and Albertina Sisulu Road in Bosmont‚ west of Johannesburg.“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the young patient lying in one of the smaller roads next to the intersection. On assessment‚ paramedics found that the boy had sustained serious injuries to his head‚ chest and his abdomen‚ leaving him in a critical condition.“Paramedics immediately began their treatment and initiated numerous advanced life support interventions in order to stabilise his vital signs. Once treated‚ the patient was transported under advanced life support supervision to Johannesburg General Hospital for urgent treatment‚” ER24 said.“The vehicle in question was apparently not found on the scene‚” it added...
