The mother of the victim, who cannot be named to protect her daughter's identity, said her child was afraid to go back to school.

“Ever since my daughter was raped, she is so aggressive and stubborn. I am afraid that the incident traumatised her. The culprits were cruel to rape my child and film her. Now she is so afraid to go to school because her peers have also viewed the video and now they call her a porn star,” said the mother.

According to provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Gerald Sedibe, the incident happened at Numbi Trust near Hazyview back in May.

“The suspects are aged between 17 and 21. Two are still in custody while the third was released into parental custody,” said Sedibe.

Sedibe said the accused were arrested on May 11 and have appeared in the Masoyi Magistrate's Court, but have not been asked to plead to charges of rape and creation of child pornography.

They are due to appear in court again on August 26.

The mother added that two of the three accused are related to the victim, "The family has apologised for what their sons have done, but she won’t forgive them because they deserve to rot in jail."
