A man who murdered his company's human resources manager in an attempt to evade a disciplinary hearing has failed in his attempt to have a life sentence reduced. Judge Thoba Poyo-Dlwati rejected Buhlebuyeza Majola's appeal against his sentence‚ telling the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Friday that the life term imposed by Judge Jacqueline Henriques at Mtunzini High Court was correct.Majola‚ now 38‚ who worked at Bell Equipment in Richards Bay‚ recruited Sibusiso Majola‚ 28‚ and together they went to Zenzele Nxumalo's home on the morning of August 5‚ 2011.Armed with semi-automatic firearms‚ they found Nxumalo sitting in his car waiting for his wife and children to leave their Arboretum home."(Sibusiso Majola) fired several shots at him and he died as a result of gunshot wounds‚" Poyo-Dlwati said in her judgment. She said Buhlebuyeza Majola executed the murder plot the day after Nxumalo told him he faced disciplinary proceedings for having been absent without leave. But Majola had never admitted that he killed Nxumalo for fear of losing his job. "If they had admitted the killing at some stage‚ then one would examine their actions leading up to the killing."Poyo-Dlwati said Nxumalo was not the cause of the disciplinary proceedings. "Convening disciplinary hearings was something that fell within his job description. There he was killed only for performing his duties. That is an aggravating factor."The two Majolas were also convicted in 2013 of unlawful possession of semi-automatic firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition. They were sentenced to eight years' imprisonment on these charges...
