Cop one of four armed robbers arrested for attempted liquor store heist

A swift response by Western Cape police to an armed robbery in progress at a liquor store in Gordon’s Bay on Sunday morning resulted in the arrest of four armed robbers‚ one of whom is a policeman. Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said Gordon’s Bay police had been alerted by a panic alarm activated at the premises.When they arrived at the premises‚ they found a police warrant officer dressed in uniform inside the shop with three civilians‚ who were pointed out by the owner of the business as the suspects who were in the process of robbing him. “All four suspects were detained on charges of business robbery and the possession of an illegal firearm. The police officer’s official firearm as well as a stolen firearm were confiscated.“Once charged‚ the four suspects are due in Strand Magistrate’s Court on the charges against them‚” Traut said.“No one is above the law and we will make every endeavor to root out criminal elements amongst our ranks‚” he added...
