Fugitive Australian alleged serial sexual offender nabbed in Pollsmoor

An alleged fugitive serial sexual offender who was being sought by the Australian authorities has been found – in a South African prison. Seventy-six-year-old Anthony Peter Freedendal was serving a sentence at Pollsmoor prison when he was arrested by Interpol members after they received a provisional request from Australian authorities. Hawks spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Netshiunda said Freedendal was facing 15 cases of indecent assault‚ five charges of persistent sexual offences with a child and four cases of sexual intercourse with a minor in Australia.“He was released on bail and in 2011 he travelled to Cape Town‚ South Africa and never returned to his country to face trial‚ but his sins followed him to Sea Point where he was hiding. In 2014 he was arrested‚ charged and sentenced after he was found guilty of sexual offences‚” Netshiunda said.Freedendal appeared in the Wynburg Magistrate’s Court last Thursday and his case was postponed to October 4 for formal request documents to be processed...
