Car crashes into bridge barrier and bakkie‚ killing one

A man was killed on Saturday evening when his car crashed into a bridge barrier and then a bakkie on the Ascott-on-Vaal Road in the Vanderbijlpark area‚ paramedics said. “It is believed that the driver lost control of the light motor vehicle‚ causing it to crash into the bridge barriers‚ eject the driver‚ and finally crash into the bakkie‚” said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found both vehicles in the middle of the road. The light motor vehicle had sustained a large amount of damage‚ with debris spread some distance across the scene‚ Meiring said.“On assessment‚ paramedics found the body of a man lying partially beneath the bakkie showing no signs of life.“The man was carefully extricated from beneath the vehicle and assessed by paramedics. Unfortunately‚ the man had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the man and he was declared dead on scene‚” Meiring said.The occupants of the bakkie were assessed and found to have escaped injury‚ he added...
