Fourth-year University of Cape Town student Djavan Arrigone was sentenced to 200 hours community service on Friday for urinating on a taxi driver from the balcony of a nightclub in Cape Town. Michelle Nomgcana‚ the driver‚ recently said his sangoma told him he needed about R150,000 to cleanse bad luck caused by the incident.Arrigone's lawyer Eben Grobbelaar said his client could not find work when he was fired by his former employer Boss Models after the incident in 2014.He said Arrigone‚ now in his fourth and final year of studying a BCom degree‚ failed three subjects in his second year because of the incident.An inebriated Arrigone urinated on Nomgcana from the balcony of the Tiger Tiger nightclub in January 2014. He was convicted of assault and crimen injuria for making racist comments after the incident.At a previous court date on September 20‚ a distraught Nomgcana said he had lost his taxi business because the incident had caused him bad luck. He is hoping to get compensation from Arrigone through the Equality Court.“My sangoma said I will require R150 000 and must slaughter a cow to cleanse myself of the bad luck‚" said Nomgcana. "This has strained my relationship with my girlfriend.”Grobbelaar said that Arrigone won't be able to pay because he is now unemployed and no modelling agencies are willing to hire him because of the negative press associated with the case.Arrigone received a three-year prison sentence‚ suspended for five years‚ in addition to being sentenced to community service. – TMG Digital/The Times..
