A Durban man has been arrested by police after he opened a false case claiming that he was robbed of the proceeds of the sale of his employer’s vehicle. Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said the 29-year-old man concluded the deal of selling the vehicle near the Durban Central police station last week. And‚ after the successful sale‚ he walked into the police station to report the “robbery”.“He left with the money and later reported that the cash from the sale of the car was taken after he was robbed by unknown men as he was leaving‚” said Zwane. But police investigations nailed him after he cracked.“Police conducted an investigation‚ which led to his arrest after it was discovered that he lied about the robbery.“The suspect was immediately arrested and charged for perjury and defeating the ends of justice‚” said Zwane. He said opening a false case is a criminal offence and it is punishable by law.“All those who are still thinking of doing the same should refrain from doing so‚ because they will be prosecuted and may face many years in prison‚” warned Zwane. – TMG Digital..
