Two people have died and up to 70 are feared injured after a bus rolled down an embankment on Durban's Higginson Highway on Monday morning.

ER24's Werner Vermaak said there were reports of at least two fatalities‚ four critical and up to 70 people injured.

"Medical helicopters were requested to assist on scene and the highway is closed at this stage."

Vermaak said four people were trapped inside of bus and fire fighters were using rescue equipment to free them.

He said the majority of the patients were removed to Chatsworth RK Khan Hospital.
