Dawie Kriel‚ the man whose alleged racist Facebook attack on Hindus landed him in deep trouble‚ is expected to plead to charges of crimen injuria in Durban on Tuesday.

Kriel‚ who faces the charges after complaints by the DA and ANC‚ told the Durban Magistrate's Court during his last appearance in November that he intended to plead guilty.

DA supporters gathered outside the court on Tuesday morning to protest against racism.

Dressed in a jersey‚ takkies and casual pants‚ a nervous Kriel waited outside the courtroom for his turn in the dock.

In the post that landed him in hot water‚ Kriel attacked President Jacob Zuma for allowing “Gupta's and company” a licence to import fireworks. He also ridiculed idol worship.

His post read “to those idol worshippers and devil disciples who buy them in the name of religion"‚ before making derogatory and offensive remarks about Hindus.
